Helldivers 2 Armor Guide: Passives, Mobility, and Roles

Choose Helldivers 2 armor by Armor Rating, Speed, Stamina Regen, passive, enemy front, and mission role instead of treating every suit as a cosmetic choice.

Which armor stats matter?

Every armor choice is a tradeoff among Armor Rating, Speed, Stamina Regen, and its passive. Treat the passive as part of the loadout rather than a bonus after the fact: it can matter more than a small class difference when it supports how you actually play the mission.

Armor choice in three questions

Choose a mission job first, then let mobility, protection, and the passive support that job.

  1. Long routes

Do you need to move often?

Favor speed and stamina when your job is rotating, carrying items, or reaching extraction.

  2. Defensive holds

    Do you expect sustained pressure?

More protection or a defensive passive can better support terminals and fixed positions.

  3. Squad role

    Which passive helps the plan?

Use the passive to reinforce the grenade, support, or objective role you already chose.

PriorityBetter fitMission reason
Covering long distances and objectivesA faster suit with useful staminaIt helps a player rotate, carry mission items, and reach extraction.
Holding a defended positionMore protection or a defensive passiveIt supports terminal work and pressure-heavy fights.
Grenade or support-focused roleA passive that improves that jobIt makes the armor contribute to the squad plan.
Learning a new frontA familiar balance of speed and durabilityIt leaves attention free for enemy behavior and objectives.

Should you pick light, medium, or heavy armor?

Start with the class whose movement feels reliable to you, then use the passive to specialize. Light armor can make routing and recovery easier; heavier armor can better suit roles that expect sustained pressure. Neither replaces positioning, cover, or friendly-fire discipline.

The most useful comparison is between two suits that serve the same role. Do not compare a fast objective runner directly to a defense-oriented teammate and call one universally better.

How does armor fit a squad loadout?

Before dropping, assign jobs: one teammate can prioritize movement and objectives, another can bring defensive tools, and the group should still retain anti-armor and crowd control. Armor makes those choices more coherent, but it does not turn one player into a solo army.

When should this guide be updated?

Use in-game armor panels as the source for current numeric stats and exact passive text. This article deliberately avoids fixed numbers because live balance changes can invalidate them; it will be expanded when those values have a versioned primary source.
