Helldivers 2 Devoid of Liberty Update Guide
Confirmed Devoid of Liberty update changes: Illuminate Void missions, Wretch and Crusher enemies, SEAF support, secondary extraction, and Level 300.
What changed in Devoid of Liberty?
Devoid of Liberty released on August 12, 2026. The update sends squads into the Illuminate Void, adding mission objectives around reconnaissance, infiltration, and destroying Illuminate infrastructure. It also introduces two mutated enemy types, gives SEAF platoons a larger role, and raises the account-level cap to 300.

Devoid of Liberty at a glance
The update changes both what a squad fights and how it plans the route through a Void operation.
-
01 Enter the Void
Plan for reconnaissance, infiltration, and Illuminate infrastructure objectives.
-
02 Learn the new pressure
Prepare for fast Wretches, durable Crushers, and Voteless crowd control.
-
03 Protect the exit plan
Use SEAF support and treat secondary extraction as a route option, not a requirement.
Which new objectives appear in the Void?
Void operations can ask a squad to destroy Illuminate spires and gateways, gather reconnaissance data, and infiltrate Illuminate structures. Secondary objectives can involve removing Void mutations, extracting research materials, and opening a second extraction zone.
| Objective type | What the squad should plan for |
|---|---|
| Reconnaissance | Protect terminals and preserve a clear retreat route. |
| Structure destruction | Bring a reliable answer for objectives before committing to extraction. |
| Infiltration | Move together and avoid splitting before the team understands the building layout. |
| Secondary extraction | Treat it as optional; do not burn the reinforcement budget solely to unlock it. |
Read Missions and Objectives for universal mission planning, then use The Void for the campaign-specific mission loop.
Which new enemies should players learn first?
The Wretch is a fast, evasive melee threat. Its danger comes from speed and pressure, especially when a squad is already handling Voteless. Keep it in front of the team and use stagger or close-range stopping power instead of chasing it alone.
The Crusher is a slower, durable bruiser with regeneration and a dangerous melee reach. It rewards focus fire: avoid the club arc, break its armored helmet, and finish the exposed head before the squad loses damage momentum. See the dedicated Crusher guide for the engagement checklist.
How do SEAF platoons and extraction change?
SEAF platoons can arrive by dropship, fight alongside Helldivers, and provide medical support. They create a short window for terminal work, resupply, repositioning, or revives, but they do not replace the squad’s own crowd control and anti-armor plan.
Some missions include a secondary extraction zone. It is a route option rather than an automatic priority: unlock it when the squad has enough time, ammunition, and reinforcements to make the objective worth the cost.
What changed for progression?
The level cap rose from 150 to 300, with new rank titles every ten levels after Level 160. Returning players may see previously earned XP reflected in their progression, so check the menu before assuming no progress was carried forward.
